Privacy Policy

JukeDen is built local-first: playback, speaker control, your music library, and your taste data live on your own devices and your own network. This policy explains what little leaves your network, and why.

What stays on your device

• Your music and file servers. Music plays directly between your devices and your speakers on your local network. Audio never passes through our servers.
• Network credentials. SMB/WebDAV usernames and passwords are stored in Android's encrypted storage on the device and are never transmitted to us.
• Taste data. Likes, dislikes, blocks, skip history, and taste profiles are stored in a local database on the device.
• Library index. The index of your local/NAS music is built and kept on the device.

Notification access (Android)

The optional "This TV / This Phone" feature reads what other music apps on the same device are playing. It uses Android's Notification Access permission, which you grant explicitly in system settings after an in-app explanation.

• What we read: media-session metadata only — track title, artist, album, artwork, and playback position from music apps (e.g. Spotify, YouTube Music).
• What we don't read: the content of any non-media notification. No messages, no email, no other notification categories.
• What we store: this metadata is shown in the app and broadcast in real time to displays you have connected on your own network. It is not sent to our servers.

What reaches our servers

• Device token. The app provisions an anonymous device token used for rate limiting and subscription entitlement. It is not tied to your name unless you sign in.
• Account (optional). If you sign in (email or Google), we store your email address and account identifiers to sync your subscription across devices.
• Subscription state. Purchases are processed by Google Play or Stripe; we store the resulting entitlement (tier, expiry, an opaque purchase reference). We never see card numbers.
• Music discovery requests. Cloud discovery features (similar music, AI mixes) send the relevant artist/track names to our service to generate results. Requests are rate-limited per device token. Offline discovery uses a database bundled with the app and sends nothing.
• Party mode over the internet. If you host an internet party, guest song requests and votes pass through our relay to reach your player. LAN-only parties stay on your network.
• Diagnostic logs (opt-in). Tester builds can upload debug logs to help fix problems. Logs are identified by device and time, not by account.

Advertising

Ads are how the free tier pays for itself, and they appear in one place only: the phone app. On a TV or a tablet JukeDen shows no ads at all, on any screen — including the player.

• Where you may see one: the phone app's own screens, and the upgrade screen shown when a free day's speaker time has been used up.
• Where you never will: anywhere on a TV or tablet; and nowhere at all once you have bought the ad-free unlock or a Pro subscription.
• Who serves them: Google AdMob. Its handling of data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
• Your choice, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: before any ad is requested, JukeDen asks for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform and shows you Google's own consent form. Until you have answered, no ad is requested and the advertising SDK is not started.

What we don't do

• No sale of personal data. No data brokers.
• No listening history profile on our servers — taste learning is on-device.
• No reading of anything on your network beyond what you point the app at.

Data retention & deletion

Account and subscription records are kept while your account exists. To delete your account and associated server-side data, contact us at the address below. On-device data is deleted when you clear the app's storage or uninstall.

Children

JukeDen is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
